Treatment of Vitreous Detachment

Does a Vitreous Detachment require treatment?

Although a vitreous detachment by itself does not require treatment, occasionally some of the vitreous fibers pull so hard on the retina that they create a macular hole or lead to a retinal detachment. Both these conditions are medical emergencies that can lead to permanent vision loss if they are not treated promptly.

Call Retina Vitreous Associates immediately if you experience a sudden increase in floaters. and/or flashes of light in your side (peripheral) vision.
